ILSB Research Focus

AEROSPACE ENGINEERING



Research at the ILSB in the field of aerospace engineering has been mainly concerned with the development and application of numerical methods for the design of structural components of aeroplanes and satellites in close cooperation with industrial partners, especially Austrian Aerospace Ges.m.b.H. and Fischer Advanced Composite Components. In addition, some research has been performed with respect to ecological aspects of civil aviation.

At present work on the project Mechanical Properties of Acoustic Skins is performed within the pilot phase of the competence network Austrian Aeronautics Research / Network for Materials and Engineering (AAR).

Results from other research fields of the ILSB, particulary the research foci on Lightweight Design and Numerical Methods in Engineering have direct bearing on the work on Aerospace Engineering.
