INPUT FILES FOR PARTICLE ARRANGEMENT GENERATOR ARIGEN

INTRODUCTION

ARIGEN is program for generating random arrangements of inhomogeneities in a square (two-dimensional case) or in a cube-shaped box (three-dimensional case). These arrangements are aimed at serving as volume elements in micromechanical studies.

ARIGEN is controlled by (ASCII) input files, the specifications of which are given in the present document.

ARIGEN input files are keyword based and must contain the following records:

In most cases these keywords are followed by one or more lines of text specifying input parameters. Each keyword must appear only once in a given input.

The input file must begin with a file header, but the other records do not have to follow a fixed sequence. The file header of an ARIGEN input file must take exactly the form

Files not starting with this character sequence are not accepted as input files by ARIGEN.

Where data lines contain multiple data entries, these must be separated by commas (compare the entries in the sample input). Comment lines identified by multiple leading asterisks ('**') can be inserted at any position in the file.

Note:
ARIGEN uses random numbers to generate pseudo-random phase arrangements. It is possible and, especially for elevated inhomogeneity volume fractions fairly common, for the algorithms to either not reach the specified inhomogeneity volume fraction and/or not to fulfill the specified distance constraints.
